Malacañang on Monday dismissed assertions that President Bongbong Marcos is at his weakest politically amid corruption allegations involving his administration and family members.
In a press briefing, PCO Undersecretary Claire Castro said the President remains proactive, citing ongoing investigations and accountability measures related to the flood control scandal.
“At his weakest? Castro said.
The Palace noted that several influential figures implicated in the scheme have already been arrested.
Castro added.
She further questioned critics demanding Marcos’ resignation, asking how the government would be managed if the President stepped down.
Assertions of waning political capital followed nationwide anticorruption rallies and allegations from former Ako Bicol Partylist Rep. Zaldy Co implicating First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, former House Speaker Martin Romualdez, and even the President’s eldest son, Sandro Marcos, in irregular budget insertions and kickbacks.
