MANHUNT UNDERWAY FOR SAN SIMON MAYOR OVER GRAFT, MALVERSATION CASES

Authorities failed to arrest suspended San Simon, Pampanga Mayor Abundio “Jun” Punsalan Jr. after serving two warrants on Friday in connection with the alleged unlawful purchase of a ₱45 million property in 2023.

Pampanga police director Col. Eugene Marcelo confirmed on Monday that Punsalan was not found in any of his three known addresses in San Simon and Metro Manila when officers attempted service beginning at 7 p.m.

“The search for Punsalan will continue, and his arrest can be carried out by any officer of the law,” Marcelo said.

The Sandiganbayan First Division issued the warrants dated November 17—one for graft, which carries a ₱90,000 bail, and another criminal case with no bail. Both were signed by acting chair Bayani Jacinto.

Punsalan has been serving a six-month suspension since October after the Office of the Ombudsman found him liable for grave misconduct.
