Questions swirl over where ABS-CBN Corporation is headed next after the Lopez-led content giant confirmed receiving a “termination letter” from TV5, following alleged non-payment of “blocktime and commercial ad fees” totaling nearly ₱950 million.
According to sources, ABS-CBN is reportedly considering entering GTV, GMA Network’s sister channel, partly due to the close relationship between GMA Network Senior Vice President Annette Gozon-Valdes and ABS-CBN President and CEO Carlo Katigbak.
“Hindi pa naman final, pero 100% possible daw mangyari,” said the source.
Previously, the Kapamilya noontime show “It’s Showtime” aired on GTV starting July 1, 2023, after TV5 gave its noontime slot to the comedic trio of Senate President Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon for “E.A.T. Bulaga!” following their split from Television and Production Exponents Inc. (TAPE). The show now airs on GMA Network’s main free TV channel.
Sources also indicate that ABS-CBN is eyeing a full-scale presence on AllTV, the free TV network of Advanced Media Broadcasting System (AMBS), owned by the family of former Senate President Manny Villar.
“Isa rin sa options pero careful sila (referring to the Lopezes) dahil hanggang ngayon, hirap pa makakuha ng viewers ang AllTV,” the source added.
Currently, AllTV Channel 2—the former frequency of ABS-CBN—airs the “Jeepney TV” programming block, including shows like “TV Patrol,” “TV Patrol Weekend,” “It’s Showtime,” “Rainbow Rumble,” and “MMK.”
Another likely move is strengthening ABS-CBN’s presence on A2Z, the free TV channel of ZOE Broadcasting Network, founded by Jesus Is Lord (JIL) leader and CIBAC Partylist Representative Eddie Villanueva, with whom ABS-CBN has had a blocktime deal since 2020.
As of now, ABS-CBN shows such as “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” “ROJA,” “What Lies Beneath,” “Go Ahead!,” “ASAP,” and “Your Face Sounds Familiar” continue airing on TV5 until January 2, 2026.
