PBBM APPOINTS ANGELITO MAGNO AS NBI CHIEF

President Bongbong Marcos appointed Angelito Magno as the new director of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Malacañang announced on Friday, December 5.

Magno’s appointment as acting NBI chief was signed on December 3, Wednesday.

Magno previously served as the agency’s officer in charge following the resignation of retired judge Jaime Santiago in October.

During his tenure at the NBI, he led investigations into high-profile cases, including the killing of Negros Oriental governor Roel Degamo, the MT Princess Empress oil spill in Oriental Mindoro, and the case of Socorro Bayanihan Services president Jey Rence Quilario, also known as “Senyor Agila.”

He also supported probes against Australian pedophile Peter Scully, the 2010 shootout involving Jason Ivler, and the arrest of former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo. Magno earned his law degree from the University of San Carlos in Cebu.

The NBI operates as an attached agency under the Department of Justice (DOJ).
