The Social Security System (SSS) announced on Tuesday that a total of ₱18.8 billion has been distributed to some 3.7 million pensioners as their 13th month pension.
SSS President and CEO Robert Joseph de Claro said the annual cash gift was credited in the first week of December to provide additional financial support during the holiday season.
“It was in line with the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and emphasized by Finance Secretary Frederick Go with the Social Security Commission,” he said.
De Claro added, “This is our way of giving back to our pensioners who have contributed to the SSS during their productive years. We hope this additional benefit brings joy and relief to them and their families this Christmas.”
Following the Pension Reform Program, retirement and disability pensioners received a 10% increase, while survivorship pensioners received a 5% boost, ensuring greater financial security for beneficiaries.
The 13th month pension is automatically credited to all SSS pensioners, and the agency reminded members to update their bank details to avoid delays.
“SSS assures the public of its continuous commitment to prudent stewardship of members’ funds,” de Claro said.
