Representatives of political party Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP) urged the Senate to investigate alleged irregularities in the May 2025 elections.
Party lawyer Israelito Torreon and defeated senatorial candidate Atty. Jayvee Hinlo submitted appeals to Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III and Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo “Ping” Lacson, chair of the Senate Committee on Electoral Reforms.
The party cited “miracles” that occurred during the midterm polls and pressed for scrutiny of ballots against transmitted copies for tabulation and canvassing.
“So long as the sun rises in the east, we will continue to hope,” Torreon said, adding that a probe would help “our people learn to trust the results of the elections because the election is the bedrock of democracy.”
Hinlo emphasized the need to verify the accuracy of vote-counting machines at the precinct level.
“Para malaman once and for all kung ang vote counting machine ay accurate sa pagbasa ng mga boto ng tao and the precinct level,” he said.
He added that the Senate and the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) should support the investigation to ensure credible elections in 2028.
“Very important ang susunod na presidential election kasi po, hating-hating na ang taumbayan. The only thing holding us back together, yung mga naniniwala na may demokrasya pa rin, ay ang eleksyon,” Hinlo said.
