GABRIELA URGES PBB HOUSEMATES TO ATTEND GENDER-SENSITIVITY SEMINARS

Gabriela Women’s Party called on the producers of Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition 2.0, particularly ABS-CBN Studios and GMA Network, to require housemates to undergo gender-sensitivity seminars following incidents in the PBB house where some female housemates were offended by sexually suggestive jokes.

The group said the incident highlights how “birong bastos” and the objectification of women remain prevalent among the youth. They also praised housemates who calmly explained why such remarks are hurtful and should not be dismissed.

“Hindi lahat ng biro ay nakakatawa lalo na kung may nao-objectify. This is a learning moment not only for those inside the house, but for many watching from their own homes and schools,” Gabriela said.

The party urged PBB producers to implement gender-sensitivity seminars to help housemates better understand consent, personal boundaries, and the everyday sexism women experience.

They also recommended guided discussions in the program to teach young viewers why comments that objectify women can be harmful, even if unintended.

Representative Sarah Elago emphasized Gabriela’s openness to collaborate with PBB to strengthen the integration of gender education in the show.

“Malaking bagay na makita ng publiko na bawal ang bastos sa Bahay ni Kuya,” she said.
