Atty. Johann Carlos Barcena has formally taken his oath as the new commissioner and chairperson of the National Privacy Commission (NPC).
The ceremony was administered by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. at Malacañang Palace.
Barcena previously served as executive director of the Governance Commission for GOCCs (GCG).
Under Republic Act 10173, or the Data Privacy Act, the privacy commissioner serves a three-year term and concurrently acts as the chair of the NPC.
