LOVE YOU SO BAD: MMFF 2025’S ROMANCE TRIANGLE OF CHRISTMAS KILIG

Love You So Bad is one of the official entries in the 51st Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), bringing a dose of romance and holiday loveteam energy to cinemas nationwide starting December 25, 2025.

The film is directed by Mae Cruz-Alviar, a filmmaker known for her work on blockbuster Filipino romantic dramas.

A FRESH ROMANCE FOR THE FESTIVAL

Produced through a collaboration between Star Cinema, GMA Pictures, and Regal Entertainment, Love You So Bad stars three of the most talked-about young actors of the year: Will Ashley, Bianca de Vera, and Dustin Yu — all former housemates from Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition.

The story centers on Savannah “Vanna” Aquino (Bianca de Vera), a bold and passionate senior high school student whose journey through love becomes complicated when she finds herself caught in a love triangle with two very different young men: Victor “Vic” Alvarez (Will Ashley), an academic achiever and student leader, and Laurence Adrian “LA” Dolores (Dustin Yu), a talented campus athlete and swimmer.

Written by Crystal Hazel S. San Miguel, the film’s narrative draws inspiration from classic Filipino romance themes while introducing a new generation of characters and dynamics.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Promoted as a rom-com turned chaos of love this festive season, Love You So Bad aims to deliver kilig, heartfelt moments, and relatable young love conflicts that resonate with audiences celebrating Christmas and the holidays.

Despite its romance genre, the film’s narrative stakes are elevated by the chemistry among the three leads and its exploration of choices, feelings, and the messy beauty of relationships — a storyline positioned to appeal to both traditional MMFF audiences and younger viewers alike.

WHY IT MATTERS THIS FESTIVAL SEASON

As part of an eclectic MMFF 2025 lineup — which includes horror, drama, and comedy offerings — Love You So Bad brings the classic romance triangle to the forefront. Its inclusion highlights the festival’s effort to balance mainstream crowd-pleasing genres alongside more diverse cinematic styles.

With its December 25 release, Love You So Bad is poised to be a holiday favorite for fans of romantic drama and Filipino cinema — especially those following the careers of rising young stars in the local entertainment scene.
