Government contractor Sarah Discaya was temporarily released from the custody of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to attend a hearing before the Office of the City Prosecutor of Malabon, the Department of Justice (DOJ) said.
DOJ spokesperson Polo Martinez confirmed that Discaya requested permission from the NBI to appear at the hearing, which forms part of the preliminary investigation into a complaint filed by the Malabon city government.
NBI Acting Director Angelito Magno said Discaya remains under NBI custody but stressed that her detention is not permanent, noting that no arrest warrant has been issued against her.
“Her continued detention is temporary and subject to existing legal procedures,” Magno said.
