The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has processed close to one million voter registration applications since the resumption of registration, signaling strong public participation ahead of the 2026 local polls.
Based on the poll body’s latest data, a total of 962,615 applications nationwide have been recorded as of December 14. Of this figure, 743,814 are applications for the Barangay elections, while 218,801 are for Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) voters aged 15 to 17.
COMELEC said 262,974 applicants registered as new voters aged 18 and above. Meanwhile, 277,070 individuals applied for transfer from another city or municipality, 59,096 requested transfers within the same locality, and 38,572 sought reactivation of their voter registration.
For SK voters, the poll body received 918 applications for transfer from another city or municipality, 279 for transfer within the same locality, and 3,284 requests for correction of entries.
The voter registration period resumed on October 20, 2025 and will run until May 18, 2026. COMELEC earlier projected that about 1.4 million new voters will be registered for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections scheduled in November 2026.
