The first phase of the delayed rehabilitation of Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA), Metro Manila’s main highway, will begin on Christmas Eve with a shorter work schedule, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said Wednesday, December 17.
DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon said the revised plan will compress the project timeline to eight months from the originally proposed two years.
The initial phase will run from December 24 until the end of April, and may extend to May 31, 2026, covering the stretch from Roxas Boulevard in Pasay City to Orense in Makati City. The DPWH will identify specific sections for road reblocking.
“Base sa assessment ng ating mga engineers, hindi na ang buong EDSA ang kailangan i-reblock, bungkalin, wasakin. May portion lang talaga,” Dizon said.
He added that priority will be given to sections needing extensive repairs, particularly from Roxas Boulevard to Taft Avenue.
