The 2025 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) festivities kick off with one of its most beloved traditions — the Parade of Stars — scheduled for Friday, December 19, 2025, in Makati City.
This grand motorcade and celebration marks the beginning of the 51st edition of the annual festival that showcases Filipino cinema.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The MMFF Parade of Stars 2025 will feature decorated floats and celebrity casts from all eight official film entries, giving fans a chance to see their favorite stars up close before the films open in theaters on Christmas Day, December 25.
The floats will represent:
- Call Me Mother
- Rekonek
- Manila’s Finest
- Shake, Rattle & Roll: Evil Origins
- I’mPerfect
- Love You So Bad
- UnMarry
- Bar Boys: After School
PARADE ROUTE AND TIMING
The parade is set to begin in the early afternoon — with floats assembling at Macapagal Boulevard at around 1 PM — and will travel an estimated 8.4 kilometer route through key Makati thoroughfares.
Route highlights include:
- Starting at Macapagal Boulevard
- Passing Buendia Avenue
- Ayala Avenue and Makati Avenue
- J.P. Rizal Street
- A. Reyes Avenue
- Ending at Circuit Makati, where a post-parade program and performances will take place.
The full event is expected to last around 1 hour and 40 minutes, making it a festive afternoon celebration ahead of the film festival proper.
TRAFFIC AND PUBLIC ADVISORY
Because of the parade, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has announced temporary lane closures and a stop-and-go traffic scheme along the parade route from 12:01 PM to 10 PM on December 19 to ensure safety and orderly flow.
Motorists are advised to plan alternative routes and expect heavy traffic in sections of Senator Gil Puyat Avenue, Ayala Avenue, Makati Avenue, J.P. Rizal Street, and A.P. Reyes Avenue.
The MMDA will deploy personnel to manage traffic and public safety, while the Makati City government hosts the parade in its central business district — the first time Makati has served as the primary venue for this annual event.
A FESTIVE START TO MMFF
The Parade of Stars remains one of the most anticipated events of the MMFF season, bringing the excitement of the festival directly to the public as a prelude to the nationwide screening of the film entries.
After the parade and performances, audiences can look forward to the MMFF screenings starting December 25 and the MMFF Gabi ng Parangal (Awards Night) on December 27 — rounding out the month’s cinematic celebration of Philippine films.
