SPECULATION RISES OVER ABS-CBN AND ZOE TV BLOCKTIME DEAL FINANCES

Questions have emerged regarding the blocktime agreement between ABS-CBN Corporation and ZOE Broadcasting Network, following posts from some “Kapuso” and “Kapatid” fanpages claiming that ZOE is experiencing salary delays allegedly due to delayed blocktime payments from ABS-CBN.

The A2Z Channel 11 free TV channel, a product of the ABS-CBN–ZOE blocktime deal, was launched in October 2020 after ABS-CBN was denied a new franchise by the House of Representatives.

Some online posts included purported screenshots and a memorandum from the station’s internal communications.

Sources also emphasized that these claims remain unverified, and both ABS-CBN and ZOE have yet to confirm any financial issues concerning the blocktime deal.

The news comes after ABS-CBN signed a licensing agreement with Advanced Media Broadcasting System (AMBS), enabling its Kapamilya Channel to air on ALLTV (Channel 2).

Some observers noted that the timing of the social media posts seemed to coincide with ABS-CBN’s Channel 2 return, which, according to sources, has fueled speculation about the motives behind the claims.

As of now, neither ABS-CBN nor ZOE Broadcasting Network has issued an official statement regarding the matter.
