DOJ CONFIRMS ₱15M RESTITUTION IN FLOOD CONTROL PROBE

Government contractor Sally Santos, owner of SYMS Construction Trading, has returned ₱15 million to the government, the Department of Justice (DOJ) said on Monday, December 22.

DOJ spokesperson Polo Martinez said the amount forms part of a memorandum of agreement between the government and applicant witnesses in connection with the alleged flood control project anomalies under investigation.

“I just received word that the armored vehicles that arrived earlier today carried the amount of more or less ₱15 million as part of the partial restitution by Sally Santos pursuant to the terms of her MOA,” Martinez said.

Santos earlier testified in Senate hearings that she allowed some Public Works engineers to use her contractor’s license in exchange for a three percent share from each flood control project bagged or implemented under SYMS Construction Trading.

She, however, denied knowing that the projects were anomalous.
The DOJ said the investigation into the alleged flood control irregularities is ongoing.
