PNP URGES PUBLIC TO SURRENDER UNUSED FIRECRACKERS

The Philippine National Police (PNP) reminded the public to properly handle firecrackers left unused or unexploded during New Year celebrations.

NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin said it is safer to turn them over to authorities.

“Ang mensahe po natin sa publiko ay i-surrender na lang sa inyong kapulisan or sa Bureau of Fire [Protection]… ang mga firecrackers na hindi n’yo po papasabugin,” he stated.

Aberin cautioned against disposing of firecrackers on one’s own.

“Huwag po n’yong sarilining i-dispose ang mga ito kasi may mga proseso tayong sinusundan,” he said, stressing that only trained personnel should handle such dangerous materials.

“At ang mga taong mas professional po na gagawa po nito ay ‘yong mga taga-AOD at taga-Bureau of Fire [Protection], or dito po sa ating kapulisan,” he added.

Earlier, Aberin led the destruction of confiscated illegal firecrackers at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City. He also reminded the public to avoid using illegal pyrotechnics to prevent accidents during New Year festivities.
