The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported a nationwide improvement in the crime situation in 2025, with focus crimes declining by 12.4% compared to the previous year.
Official records from the Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management showed 35,717 incidents from January to December 2025, down from 40,771 in 2024—a reduction of 5,054 cases.
Rape posted the sharpest decline at 22.68%, dropping from 9,910 cases in 2024 to 7,662 in 2025. Carnapping fell by 20.18%, murder by 17.8%, homicide by 14.98%, physical injury by 13.98%, and robbery by 11.87%. Theft also decreased by 4.31%.
The PNP noted a sustained downward trend, with crime incidents falling by 11.64% between two equal 128-day periods in 2025.
Acting PNP Chief PLTGen. Jose Melencio Nartatez said the gains reflect the effectiveness of the PNP’s Focused Agenda and the collective efforts of police units nationwide.
He emphasized that the results were achieved through consistent crime prevention and law enforcement strategies on the ground.
