Nearly 5.9 million seaport passengers nationwide were recorded during the recent holiday season, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said Sunday.
“As we speak, halos 5.9 million na ‘yun na-monitor natin. Kahapon lang ay halos 445,000 both inbound and outbound passengers ang na-monitor ng PCG nationwide ‘yan,” PCG spokesperson Captain Noemie Guirao-Cayabyab said.
She added that an influx of passengers bound for Metro Manila was expected as classes and government offices resume.
Meanwhile, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) reported almost 800,000 passengers across 44 airports from December 20, 2025 to January 1, 2026. CAAP spokesperson Eric Apolonio noted passenger traffic rises by about 7–10% annually.
No untoward incidents were reported in airports during the period, Apolonio said.
