TINIO URGES RELEASE OF TEACHERS’ UNPAID SRI BALANCE

ACT Teachers Partylist Representative Antonio Tinio on Tuesday called on President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to immediately release the unpaid balance of the service recognition incentive (SRI) for teachers and Department of Education personnel.

Tinio said the SRI amounts to ₱20,000, but teachers have so far received only ₱14,500, leaving ₱5,500 still unpaid.

“May utang po ang national government sa kanila. Accounts payable po ito,” he said.

He noted that other government employees had already received the full amount before year-end.

“Ang ibang mga government employees, natanggap na po ito ng buo bago pa matapos ang taon. Malamang nagastos na nga nila. Pero yung mga teachers and employees natin ng DepEd, naghihintay pa rin na makompleto ang kanilang SRI,” Tinio added.

The lawmaker also urged the Department of Budget and Management to fast-track the processing and release of the remaining balance, stressing that teachers should not be left waiting for what is rightfully owed to them.
