ANGARA SAYS HE SERVES AT PRESIDENT’S PLEASURE

Education Secretary Sonny Angara on Friday said he will continue serving in the Department of Education (DepEd) “at the pleasure” of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. amid rumors of a possible Cabinet revamp.

In an ambush interview, Angara thanked Malacañang for clarifying the issue, noting that he has not personally discussed the matter with the President. He said the Office of the Executive Secretary had informed him that there was no such plan.

“Hopefully, hindi tayo kasama doon kung meron man,” Angara said. “Of course, we serve at the pleasure of the President.”

The Palace has earlier denied reports of a shakeup involving key government posts under the Marcos administration.

When asked about his performance, Angara said he would leave the assessment to his superiors as he continues to push reforms at the DepEd aimed at improving the welfare of learners and teachers.
