HOUSE TRUST RATING UP — RIDON

Bicol Saro Partylist Representative Terry Ridon said the recent increase in the House of Representatives’ trust rating reflects public recognition of its efforts to carry out its oversight role.

Ridon, who chairs the House Committee on Public Accounts, cited a Pulse Asia survey conducted from December 12 to 15 showing the House’s trust rating rising to 31% from 25% in September 2025, while its distrust rating dropped to 27% from 36% over the same period.

“These numbers show that the public recognizes the House’s serious and continuing work to strengthen accountability,” Ridon said.

“The increase in trust and the drop in distrust reflect growing confidence that congressional oversight is being conducted professionally, transparently, and without shortcuts,” he added.

Ridon said his committee would remain focused on scrutinizing the use of public funds through proper institutional processes.

“Oversight is not about noise or spectacle. It is about following the evidence, respecting due process, and making sure that reforms lead to real consequences and better systems,” he said.

The same Pulse Asia survey found that 59% of Filipinos believe public officials involved in alleged irregularities could eventually be held accountable.
