ALCANTARA DENIES REPORTS OF TESTIMONY RECANTATION

Former Public Works Bulacan 1st District Engineer Henry Alcantara has denied reports claiming he would recant his testimonies before the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee.

In a statement issued by his counsel, Atty. Emil Karlo Joven, Alcantara described the allegations as “false and misleading.”

“Recent claims circulating on various news outlets and from certain social media personalities alleging that former Bulacan 1st District Engineering Office Engineer Henry C. Alcantara has recanted his earlier testimony given during the hearings of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, or statements in any other proceedings, are categorically false and misleading,” the statement said. “In short, Engr. Alcantara is not recanting his prior statements.”

His lawyer confirmed Alcantara has entered into a Memorandum of Agreement with the Department of Justice (DOJ) as part of his admission into the witness protection program.

“Engr. Alcantara remains pledged to fulfilling his obligations under the Memorandum of Agreement to assist authorities in the pursuit of truth and accountability,” the statement added.

The DOJ also clarified it has not received any affidavit of recantation.

“For the record, the DOJ has not received or reviewed any affidavit from Henry Alcantara retracting his previous statements,” said DOJ Spokesperson Polo Martinez.
