PALACE TIGHTENS GRIP ON 2026 BUDGET

Malacañang has begun firming up plans for the proposed ₱6.793-trillion national budget for 2026, with Executive Secretary Ralph Recto convening key Cabinet officials to align spending priorities with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s agenda.

The closed-door meeting, held last Monday, gathered top officials overseeing economic management and public service delivery, including the heads of agriculture, public works, health, social welfare, transportation, education, and budget agencies, as well as senior officials from the finance and presidential management offices.

According to the Office of the Executive Secretary, the meeting aimed to “ensure the strategic alignment of the 2026 National Budget with the administration’s priorities and development agenda.”

No further details were disclosed on the discussions or specific allocations as of posting time.
