RAZON DISMISSES BARZAGA AMID LIBEL ROW

Business tycoon Enrique Razon Jr. on Wednesday brushed off Cavite 4th District Representative Kiko Barzaga, saying the lawmaker is “not worth paying attention to” following the filing of a cyber libel case.

Razon made the remark after Barzaga accused him of allegedly bribing members of the National Unity Party (NUP) to support the reelection of then-House Speaker and Leyte 1st District Representative Martin Romualdez.

“Mahirap patulan ang siraulo. He is not worth paying attention to,” Razon said.

The ports and gaming magnate also questioned Barzaga’s source of wealth, noting that the congressman comes from a family known only for politics.

“How did they become wealthy? Where does the cash that he posts in pictures come from? He belongs in another kind of institution, not Congress,” Razon added.

Barzaga has previously faced public scrutiny over his mental fitness.

In an earlier dispute, Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo “Ping” Lacson claimed the lawmaker was being used by certain groups to advance political interests.

“Almost all local officials in Cavite I’ve talked to say, his mental health is unstable. I don’t think it is advisable na patulan ko yan,” Lacson said.

Barzaga is currently serving a 60-day suspension without pay after 249 House members voted to penalize him for misconduct, including posting what were described as indecent photos unbecoming of a lawmaker.

He has also drawn criticism for sharing images online showing large amounts of cash and other luxury items.
