After more than three years of challenges, free-to-air channel ALLTV2 is beginning to recover in both TV ratings and advertiser support.
The turnaround comes after ALLTV2 signed a licensing agreement with ABS-CBN Corporation, allowing the cable-based Kapamilya Channel to air on free TV Channel 2.
According to Nielsen Philippines’ National Urban Television Audience Measurement (NUTAM), ALLTV2 recorded a 2.0% rating in the 8:00 PM slot, where the Kapamilya primetime action series FPJ’s Batang Quiapo is broadcast.
This rating surpassed GTV’s movie block G! Flicks at 1.8% and TV5/One PH’s primetime action series Totoy Bato at 1.5%.
The network also reported full commercial loads since the airing of Kapamilya Channel began, signaling renewed confidence from advertisers.
Since its launch in 2022, ALLTV2 struggled to gain traction with viewers and advertisers, largely due to backlash from ABS-CBN supporters.
The controversy stemmed from the 2020 congressional vote against granting ABS-CBN a new franchise, where Senator Camille Villar — daughter of businessman and former lawmaker Manny Villar, owner of ALLTV2 — voted in favor of denying the franchise.
Now, with the Kapamilya Channel on board, ALLTV2 appears to be regaining momentum in the competitive free TV landscape.
