Malacañang on Tuesday said it is allowing due process to take its course after two impeachment complaints against President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. were referred to the House Committee on Justice.
Communications Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro emphasized that the complaints, filed for graft, corruption, and betrayal of public trust, will not affect the President’s work.
“Ginagalang po ng Pangulo kung anuman po ang activities, ginagawa at mga desisyon po ng House of Representatives so hayaan po natin ang proseso na umandar na naaayon sa batas,” she said.
Castro assured the public that Marcos remains focused on his duties.
“Itong mga impeachment complaint na naisampa laban sa Pangulo ay hindi po mapapahinto, hindi po mapapatigil ang Pangulo sa patuloy niyang pagtatrabaho para iangat ang buhay ng bawat Pilipino,” she added.
She noted that the Palace is ready to submit “any document” requested, stressing that the President “respects the process.”
At the same time, Castro acknowledged the political impact of the complaints. She said the administration views the impeachment raps as “in a way” an attack, warning that such moves affect not only the President but also the country’s economy.
