TV5 PRIMETIME STRUGGLES AMID TOUGH RATINGS BATTLE

TV5 continues to face challenges in its primetime block, based on the latest data from the National Urban Television Audience Measurement (NUTAM), reflecting the increasingly competitive landscape of Philippine television.

According to NUTAM ratings on Monday, January 26, the Kapatid Network’s flagship primetime action series “Totoy Bato,” produced by MQuest Ventures and Studio VIVA, recorded a 1.1% rating.

This figure remains significantly behind its competitors, including GMA Network’s fantasy series “Sang’gre,” which posted 8.1%, and ABS-CBN’s top-rating primetime action drama “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” which led the timeslot with 9.6%.

The reruns of TV5’s previous collaboration projects with ABS-CBN Studios—“Nag-aapoy na Damdamin” and “Pira-Pirasong Paraiso”—also struggled to gain traction, as both programs have yet to break into the 1.0% ratings bracket since their return to the network’s lineup.

Meanwhile, TV5’s flagship primetime newscast “Frontline Pilipinas” managed to retain its 2% ratings but was unable to reclaim the second spot in overall rankings.

The program has now been overtaken by ABS-CBN’s long-running Tagalog newscast “TV Patrol,” which saw improved performance following the airing of the Kapamilya-owned cable channel Kapamilya Channel on the free TV platform ALLTV2.

Despite primetime difficulties, TV5 continues to perform well in other dayparts. The noontime show “Eat Bulaga!” and the afternoon news program “Frontline Express” have maintained strong and stable viewership, providing the network with bright spots amid an otherwise challenging ratings period.

Industry observers have noted a visible decline in TV5’s audience share following the conclusion of its content supply agreement with ABS-CBN on the first day of 2026.

As the network recalibrates its programming strategy, attention now turns to its upcoming original teleseryes—“The Kingdom: Magkabilang Mundo,” “A Secret in Prague,” “The Good Doctor: The Philippine Adaptation,” and “My Bespren Emman.”

These new offerings are widely seen as potential drivers that could help TV5 regain momentum and improve its primetime performance in the coming months.
