BARZAGA SNUBS ETHICS HEARING

Cavite 4th District Representative Kiko Barzaga declared he will not attend the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges hearing next week on calls for his suspension.

“I will be ignoring the summons of the Ethics Committee, expel me if they want, but the Philippine Congress has done nothing but destroy the lives of the Filipino People,” Barzaga said in a Facebook post.

Committee chairperson and 4Ps Party-list Representative JC Abalos earlier confirmed that the hearing, prompted by Manila 2nd District Representative Rolan Valeriano’s privilege speech, is set for next week.

Valeriano had sought another suspension for Barzaga, condemning his Facebook posts that accused tycoon Enrique Razon of bribing National Unity Party members to back former Speaker Martin Romualdez and maligning the late Antipolo City 2nd District Representative Romeo Acop.

Abalos assured due process, saying, “So next week, when we tackle this matter, we will make sure that all of our rules and processes will be followed and the respondent will be given a chance to be heard. And of course, it will be a collective decision by the committee, and we will recommend to the plenary kung ano yung magiging findings namin.”

Barzaga was previously suspended for 60 days on December 1, 2025, for disorderly behavior.
