MARCOS URGES PNP TO PRIORITIZE DISCIPLINE AND TRUST

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Wednesday called on members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) to maintain visibility, discipline, and trustworthiness as the nation marks PNP Day on January 29.

“As we build a Bagong Pilipinas, peace and order remain fundamental for growth and public confidence. I ask every member of the PNP to focus on what matters most: visible presence, disciplined conduct, and service that communities can trust,” Marcos said in a video message.

He praised police officers for their competence and respectfulness, adding, “We are committed to strengthening training that improves decision-making in very real situations, investing in systems that shorten response times, and enforcing accountability mechanisms that protect both the public and the honest police officer.”

Marcos, who recently skipped several public engagements after being placed under medical observation for diverticulitis, was represented by Executive Secretary Ralph Recto at the Pagpupugay 2025: Parangal Sa Mga Lingkod event.

However, he personally attended the oath-taking of Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. as the new PNP chief.

Nartatez said Marcos directed him to continue the PNP’s work in keeping communities safe and further reducing criminality nationwide.
