TASK FORCE RESUMES PROBE INTO FLOOD CONTROL PROJECTS

The Independent Commission for Infrastructure’s Project Investigation Task Force (ICI-PITF) has resumed its inquiry into alleged irregularities in major flood control projects, holding its fifth meeting on Friday.

Chaired by retired Supreme Court Associate Justice Andres Reyes Jr., the session focused on updates involving 79 flood control projects out of more than 400 under review.

These projects are linked to the top 15 contractors earlier flagged by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. during his State of the Nation Address last year.

The ICI-PITF, an ad hoc body composed of representatives from the Philippine National Police–Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), works closely with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

The task force meets every two weeks to consolidate findings, identify issues, and determine further action.

Investigations cover projects implemented since 2015.

The task force has already made headway in the probe, including the filing of referrals against several individuals, among them government officials, as the review continues.
