President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. wants the passage of an anti-political dynasty bill to be one of the defining legacies of his administration, Malacañang said.
Communications Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the Palace is seriously studying how to push the measure forward, particularly the provisions that would prohibit relatives from simultaneously holding government posts.
She stressed that the President wants to fully understand the bill’s details to ensure it produces a fair and effective law.
“Inaaral ito talaga, hindi lang ito nire-review ha, ninanais ito ng Pangulo kung paano maipasa at maging maganda ang batas na ito,” Castro said.
Castro revealed that discussions on the proposed legislation were already held in Malacañang as early as January, making it one of the first matters tackled by the administration this year.
Executive Secretary Ralph Recto, for his part, expressed optimism that the long-pending measure could still be passed ahead of the 2028 national elections.
