Filipino moviegoers can expect an extra dose of romance in 2026 as two popular Kapamilya love teams confirmed their respective big-screen projects for the year.
After years of anticipation, Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano, collectively known as DonBelle, are officially returning to cinemas, while rising duo JM Ibarra and Fyang Smith, or JMFyang, are set to make their much-awaited movie debut.
DONBELLE’S BIG-SCREEN COMEBACK
After more than three years, Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano are making their return to the big screen, following their last film outing in the 2022 romantic hit “An Inconvenient Love.”
During an interview with ABS-CBN News on Sunday, February 1, at the ALL2gether: The Grand Pasasalamat event, Pangilinan shared that audiences can expect a more evolved portrayal from the pair.
“For sure, they’re going to see a mature side for the both of us,” said Donny.
DonBelle first captured viewers’ hearts through the hit Wattpad adaptation “He’s Into Her,” which paved the way for more projects such as “Love Is Color Blind,” “Can’t Buy Me Love,” and “How To Spot A Red Flag.”
Their upcoming movie marks a new chapter for the love team as they take on more mature roles.
JMFYANG’S MOVIE DEBUT
Fresh from the success of the 2025 Metro Manila Film Festival entry “Shake, Rattle and Roll: Evil Origins,” the tandem of JM Ibarra and Fyang Smith is set to headline their first romantic-drama film together.
Regal Entertainment Inc. formally announced that JMFyang will star in “Almost Us,” produced in collaboration with Project 8 Projects and directed by award-winning filmmaker Dan Villegas.
The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on May 6.
Beyond the big screen, the pair will also appear in the upcoming Kapamilya primetime series “Love Is Never Gone,” led by Joshua Garcia and Ivana Alawi.
With DonBelle’s return and JMFyang’s debut, 2026 is shaping up to be a year filled with romance, kilig, and major love team moments for Filipino movie fans.
