The Makabayang Koalisyon ng Mamamayan issued a sharp reaction after the House Committee on Justice dismissed two impeachment complaints against President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Wednesday, February 4.
During the hearing, the committee declared the complaints filed by Atty. Andre de Jesus and the Makabayan bloc as “insufficient in substance.”
In a social media post released the same day, Makabayan said it was not surprised by the outcome.
“Di naman nakakagulat. Puro mga protektor ng korap. Kadiri,” the coalition wrote.
Malacañang, meanwhile, welcomed the dismissal, saying the proper process was followed.
Communications Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said lawmakers were able to determine the truth behind the accusations.
“Unang-una po ay ikinatutuwa po natin na nasunod ang proseso; at nagpapasalamat po tayo na nakita po ng mga mambabatas kung ano po talaga ang katotohanan—at doon po tayo lagi sa katotohanan,” Castro said.
