POSSIBLE THIRD IMPEACHMENT COMPLAINT VS VP SARA EYED

Mamamayang Liberal Party-list Representative Leila de Lima said she has received information that another impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte may be filed on Monday, February 9.

In a Friday interview, de Lima welcomed the development, noting that the complaint she endorsed with Akbayan Party-list Representative Perci Cendaña has already been transmitted by House Secretary General Cheloy Garafil to the Office of the Speaker.

A separate complaint from the Makabayan coalition has also been sent to Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III.

Citing a Supreme Court resolution dated January 28, de Lima explained that the Speaker has 10 session days to include the complaint in the plenary’s Order of Business. Since the first complaint was filed on February 2, she said three session days have already elapsed.

De Lima stressed that a filing on Monday would still fall within the allowable period.

“So kung hahabol yan sa Monday… it’s still well within the 10-session day period… wala pang nalalabag dyan na patakaran,” she said.

She added that she has not heard whether the possible third complaint already carries the required one-third endorsement of House members, which would allow immediate transmission to the Senate.

“As of now wala po akong naririnig… pero wala pong impediment or hindrance legally and technically,” she noted.

Asked if she would support a complaint that already meets the one-third requirement, de Lima said she would.

“Mas mapapabilis kaya, actually mas prefer namin yun. Pero okay lang kung walang ganun para malantad na kaagad… before the Committee on Justice,” she said.
