Senate Majority Leader Migz Zubiri said he hopes any possible change in the Senate’s leadership would come from within the chamber’s 15-member majority bloc.
In an ambush interview, Zubiri underscored the importance of unity should a leadership transition take place.
“Any changes in the Senate leadership, sana ay galing sa aming grupo, sa majority… That way, the majority remains solid, solidly behind each other,” he said.
Zubiri revealed that the idea of Senator Loren Legarda potentially becoming the Senate’s first female Senate President was raised during an informal discussion among senators.
He noted the suggestion was made in a lighthearted manner, proposing Legarda as a possible successor to Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III later in his term.
Sotto remained Senate President following the Senate session held on Wednesday, February 4.
