DOJ SUBMITS PLUNDER CASE VS ZALDY CO FOR RESOLUTION

The Department of Justice (DOJ) announced that the plunder case against former Ako Bicol Party-list Representative Zaldy Co has been formally submitted for resolution.

“As for the plunder case against former Representative Zaldy Co, the DOJ reports that it is now submitted for resolution,” DOJ spokesperson Polo Martinez said in a press briefing Friday, February 6.

Martinez explained that prosecutors may now either recommend filing the case in court or moving for its dismissal.

Co’s case is one of three high-profile plunder cases linked to the alleged flood control scandal, alongside cases against Senator Jinggoy Estrada — with former Public Works Secretary Manuel Bonoan as co-accused — and former Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr.

Martinez added that the next setting for the filing of counter-affidavits is on February 12.

Meanwhile, six other cases involving Wawao Builders and Topnotch Catalyst Builders Inc., including three malversation cases against Senate Deputy Minority Leader Joel Villanueva, were also submitted for resolution as of February 2.

“As to what date exactly, we just encourage the public to wait in the meantime, but we can guarantee that this has been submitted for resolution,” Martinez said.
