The San Pablo, Laguna Regional Trial Court (RTC) has delayed the issuance of a warrant of arrest against business tycoon Atong Ang in connection with cases of kidnapping with homicide and kidnapping with serious illegal detention.
“We inform the public that the issuance of the warrant of arrest was deferred by the court following a motion to defer or suspend proceedings by the accused,” DOJ Spokesperson Atty. Polo Martinez said in a press briefing Friday, February 6.
Ang is also facing separate cases in the courts of Sta. Cruz, Laguna and Lipa City, Batangas.
Of the three courts, only Sta. Cruz RTC Branch 26 and Lipa RTC Branch 13 have so far issued warrants of arrest against him.
