PNP VOWS TO APPREHEND FUGITIVE ATONG ANG

The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Sunday reaffirmed its commitment to apprehend fugitive businessman Atong Ang, commending the Cambodian government for assisting in tracking his movements.

“While his vast resources continue to pose a challenge in pursuing him, the PNP is focused and committed to bring him to justice,” PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said in a statement.

Nartatez emphasized that the PNP continues to coordinate with other government agencies to validate daily intelligence regarding Ang’s possible locations.

“We in the PNP fully appreciate the cooperation and assistance of the government of Cambodia. This only proves the strong alliance between the two countries in law enforcement operations and in the pursuit of justice,” he added.

Authorities have strengthened international coordination to restrict Ang’s movements and facilitate his eventual arrest.

Arrest warrants have been issued against him and several others for kidnapping with homicide and kidnapping with serious illegal detention, linked to the disappearance of several sabungeros (cockfighting enthusiasts).

A ₱10-million reward remains for information leading to his capture.
