THIRD IMPEACHMENT CASE FILED VS VP SARA

Vice President Sara Duterte is now facing a third impeachment complaint after clergy members and civic groups filed a new case on Monday, citing alleged constitutional violations, betrayal of public trust, and plunder or malversation of public funds.

The 98-page complaint was endorsed by Mamamayang Liberal (ML) Party-list Representative Leila de Lima, who also backed the second impeachment case earlier filed by Tindig Pilipinas co-convenor Kiko Aquino Dee, a nephew of the late former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.

The latest complaint largely mirrors earlier filings, raising accusations of alleged misuse of confidential funds, corruption and bribery during Duterte’s time as education secretary, supposed assassination threats against top government officials, and other serious offenses.

Included in the filing is an affidavit from Ramil Madriaga, who claims he acted as Duterte’s “bagman.”

Madriaga alleged that Duterte’s 2022 election campaign was funded by Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs).

The first two impeachment complaints have already been transmitted to the Office of House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III, while the third has been received by the Office of the House Secretary General.

The House Committee on Justice has yet to take up deliberations on the cases.
