The House of Representatives has overwhelmingly voted to dismiss two impeachment complaints against President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., declaring them lacking in substance.
With a tally of 284-8 and four abstentions, members approved House Resolution 746, adopting the findings of the Committee on Justice chaired by Batangas 2nd District Rep. Gerville Luistro.
House Deputy Speaker Janette Garin, presiding over the plenary session, announced:
“The impeachment complaints filed against President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos are hereby dismissed.”
In her sponsorship speech, Luistro explained that the panel found no factual link between the President and any impeachable offense.
“Ultimately, these complaints failed to establish any factual nexus between the President and an impeachable offense. What were presented were policy disagreements and generalized accusations, not ultimate facts,” she said.
The complaints, filed by lawyer Andre de Jesus and the Makabayan bloc, were ruled insufficient to demonstrate bad faith, malice, or a culpable violation of the Constitution—requirements for impeachment under Philippine law.
