House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III stressed the need for strong public participation in crafting the proposed anti-political dynasty law, saying landmark legislation must be grounded in transparency and genuine dialogue.
In a video message aired during a consultation in Carmona, Cavite, Dy reiterated the House of Representatives’ commitment to inclusive discussions, noting that lawmaking should not be imposed from the top down.
Dy, together with Ilocos Norte 1st District Representative Sandro Marcos, filed House Bill No. 6771, which seeks to operationalize the 1987 Constitution’s ban on political dynasties by clearly defining prohibited family relationships and limiting the holding of elective positions.
Acknowledging long-standing public demand for such a measure, Dy emphasized that the House’s role is to listen to citizens across the country.
He added that the proposed law must reflect the voices of Filipinos from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao to ensure fairness and legitimacy.
The House Committee on Suffrage and Electoral Reforms is set to continue public consultations in the Visayas and Mindanao as part of efforts to gather broader public input on the proposed measure.
