MARCOS ORDERS FAST-TRACK OF ZAMBOANGA INFRA PROJECTS

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has ordered the immediate rollout of priority infrastructure projects in the Zamboanga Peninsula to spur economic growth and strengthen regional connectivity.

The directive was issued during a meeting with Cabinet officials and members of the Regional Development Council-IX at Camp Major Cesar Sang-an in Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur, according to the Presidential Communications Office (PCO).

“Inutos ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ang agarang pagpapabilis ng mga prayoridad na proyekto tulad ng pagpapahusay ng fish port, mga pangunahing kalsada, pantalan at paliparan upang mapalakas ang koneksyon ng mga komunidad at merkado.”

Marcos emphasized that speeding up key infrastructure would boost economic activity, lower transport costs, increase agricultural and fisheries production, strengthen education and skills training, and create more sustainable livelihoods across the region.

Among the high-impact projects highlighted were the Zamboanga Fish Port Complex improvement, targeted for completion this year; the Sindangan-Bayog-Lakewood Road; the Mindanao Growth Corridors Road Sector Project; upgrades to Daang Maharlika and the Western Nautical Highway; and coastal road developments near major beaches.

The PCO said most of these initiatives are expected to be completed within the next two years.

Other major projects in the pipeline include the construction of a new Zamboanga Airport, the Zamboanga Peninsula Integrated Fisheries Development Complex, and the San Ramon New Port Project.
