President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is urging the expansion of pre-cast construction facilities nationwide to accelerate his administration’s flagship housing program.
Speaking at Megawide’s pre-cast plant in Taytay, Rizal, Marcos underscored the need for industrialized housing methods to meet the ambitious targets of the Expanded Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH).

“Gagawin po namin lahat ng aming kakayahan upang hindi lamang itong plantang itong nakikita ninyo ngayon kung hindi madagdagan pa at maparami pa upang mapabilis ang konstruksyon at maparami ang aming maibibigay na tahanan,” Marcos said, signaling plans to replicate the model across the country.
Pre-cast technology allows walls, beams, slabs, and columns to be manufactured simultaneously in a controlled environment, enabling faster turnaround, tighter quality control, and fewer weather delays.
Since July 2022, the government reports completing and financing over 423,000 housing units, though the demand backlog remains at an estimated 6.5 million units.

The 4PH program, launched in 2022, aims to build one million homes annually but has faced challenges such as right-of-way issues, procurement delays, and weather disruptions.
Pag-IBIG Fund has invested in Megawide preferred shares to support the construction of more than 7,000 socialized housing units in Cavite within two years. Pag-IBIG CEO Marilene Acosta described the initiative as “a major step forward” in strengthening socialized housing through modern construction.
DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling, who chairs the Pag-IBIG board, highlighted the program’s dual role as social policy and economic stimulus.
The event also marked DHSUD’s 7th anniversary, featuring the distribution of symbolic keys, Certificates of Lot Award, and Certificates of Entitlement to beneficiaries from Nueva Ecija to Cavite.
A pilot rental housing project inside UP Diliman was unveiled, signaling a shift toward flexible housing models beyond ownership.
Marcos framed housing as a “labor of love,” noting DHSUD’s creation on Valentine’s Day in 2019.
