Former Vice President and now Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo said Saturday she is not yet considering a possible presidential bid in 2028, stressing that her attention remains on her current responsibilities as mayor.
“Ako, hindi ko kino-consider pag-usapan ‘yung politika this early. Kasi ang dami ko pang trabahong gagawin. Marami tayong lahat na trabahong gagawin,” she said.
Robredo emphasized that she has only recently assumed office and that discussing the next presidential race would be a “disservice” to her constituents.
“Sa akin, kauupo ko lang bilang mayor. Hindi pa nga one year. Para pag usapan ‘yung 2028, parang disservice naman ‘yun sa mga tao ‘pag pinag usapan na ‘yung eleksyon, ‘yung gagawin mo para sa eleksyon,” she added.
She underscored the importance of focusing on governance rather than early election talk.
“Sa akin lang, ngayong panahon ng trabaho, focus tayo sa trabaho. ‘Yung eleksyon, every three years ‘yun. ‘Yung time na ginugugol sa eleksyon, dapat every three years,” Robredo said.
Meanwhile, she acknowledged Vice President Sara Duterte’s earlier declaration of a presidential run, saying:
“Karapatan naman ng kahit sino. Nirerespeto ko.”
Robredo’s remarks highlight her intent to prioritize local governance over national political speculation at this stage.
