PBBM DECLINES COMMENT ON VP SARA’S 2028 PRESIDENTIAL BID

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Saturday refused to weigh in on Vice President Sara Duterte’s announcement that she plans to run for president in 2028, saying it is not the time to talk politics.

Speaking during his visit to Naga City, Marcos emphasized that his public appearance alongside Mayor Leni Robredo was unrelated to Duterte’s declaration.

He also dismissed speculation that his sister, Senator Imee Marcos, could become Duterte’s running mate.

“Again – again, this is all politics. I’m not going to – we’re not going to discuss politics now,” Marcos said.

Duterte unveiled her presidential intentions last Wednesday and apologized to Filipinos for what she described as the administration’s shortcomings.

Her statement comes as she faces multiple impeachment complaints in the House of Representatives and amid ongoing proceedings at the International Criminal Court involving her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, over his anti-drug campaign.

Malacañang earlier said the vice president also has matters to explain, including issues surrounding confidential funds.

Marcos’ trip to Naga City centered on inspecting anti-flood measures along Sagop Creek, highlighting disaster mitigation efforts rather than engaging in political discussions.
