The House Committee on Appropriations has approved two priority measures endorsed by the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC), House Majority Leader and Ilocos Norte 1st District Rep. Sandro Marcos announced.
Marcos said the approvals reflect the chamber’s proactive efforts under the leadership of Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III.
“These committee-level approvals show the House is doing the hard work early under the steady guidance of Speaker Faustino ‘Bojie’ G. Dy III – building consensus, refining policy and making sure the measures we bring to the floor are ready,” Marcos said.
Among the measures cleared at the committee level are the Presidential Merit Scholarship Program, which seeks to grant merit-based assistance to outstanding senior high school graduates, and the proposed National Land Use Act, which aims to establish a national framework for rational and sustainable land allocation.
Marcos emphasized that the House remains focused on legislation with direct impact on Filipino households.
“Our focus remains on bills that directly affect education, health, food security, and social protection, because these are the areas where legislation turns into something families can actually feel,” he said.
He also underscored the need to accelerate the passage of LEDAC-backed proposals.
“Kaya we make sure that we expedite the approvals of these LEDAC measures kasi alam namin na tunay na ginhawa ang hatid ng mga panukalang ito para sa ating mga kababayan,” Marcos added.
Other LEDAC priority measures under review by the Appropriations panel include proposals on immigration modernization, the creation of an Independent People’s Commission, amendments to the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act, revisions to the 4Ps law, updates to the Magna Carta for MSMEs, and the resetting of elections in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
To date, 12 out of 52 LEDAC priority measures have passed the House on third reading, signaling steady progress in advancing the administration’s legislative agenda.
