The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) will strictly implement a “no permit, no rally” policy during the 40th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution on February 25.
In a radio interview, NCRPO spokesperson Police Major Hazel Asilo said authorities need ample preparation for two large-scale events scheduled on the same day.
“Ipatutupad natin ang no permit, no rally since kailangan nating makapag-prepare dahil dalawang malaking pagtitipon ito,” Asilo said.
Aside from the EDSA commemoration, the third Trillion Peso March — a protest linked to alleged corruption in flood control projects — is also set to take place.
Asilo confirmed that only one group has secured a permit to hold a gathering, while other groups, including Koalisyon Makabayan, have expressed plans to proceed without authorization.
To ensure peace and order, the NCRPO will deploy around 14,000 police officers across Metro Manila to secure key areas during the anniversary activities.
