Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested vlogger Norman Mangusin, better known as Francis Leo Marcos, at the Sheraton Manila Hotel on Tuesday.
The arrest was based on a warrant issued by the Parañaque City Regional Trial Court Branch 294 in connection with an unjust vexation complaint filed by a fellow vlogger.
NAPOLCOM Vice Chairman Ralph Vicente Calinisan clarified that the case is separate from Mangusin’s earlier unauthorized use of police uniforms on social media.
“Prior to this development, we held a coordination meeting with the CIDG regarding Mangusin’s unauthorized use of a police uniform, as well as serious concerns involving his alleged use of multiple names, passports and birth certificates, and the presence of unauthorized security personnel,” Calinisan said.
Authorities are verifying records with the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Philippine Statistics Authority for possible fraudulent documents.
Mangusin has previously faced sanctions from the Land Transportation Office, which revoked his driving privileges for road safety violations.
Known for flaunting a lavish lifestyle online, Mangusin has been the subject of multiple investigations. After his arrest, he was brought to Camp Crame and presented to the media.
“This is just a case of unjust vexation yet I suffered humiliation nationwide through the national TV,” he said, denying the allegations.
Calinisan added that further charges could be pursued if warranted.
“We will hold him accountable,” he remarked. Mangusin is expected to be presented before the issuing court. The charge is bailable.
