VP SARA’S CAMP REFRAINS FROM COMMENTING ON IMPEACHMENT PROGRESS

The camp of Vice President Sara Duterte has chosen not to further comment on the developments of her impeachment case.

“The Defense Team does not see the need to comment at this point,” lawyer Michael Poa, Duterte’s counsel, said Monday, March 2.

Poa’s pronouncement came after the House of Representatives found two out of four remaining impeachment complaints against the Vice President “sufficient in form.”

The House Committee on Justice ruled that the complaints filed by Fr. Jose Saballa et al., as well as by lawyer Nathaniel Cabrera, met the formal requirements under House rules.

Duterte’s camp had earlier downplayed the fresh impeachment complaints, saying they were politically motivated and that they were ready to “confront” all allegations.

“We will simply continue to monitor the proceedings and provide comments if and when necessary,” Poa also said Monday.
