Vice President Sara Duterte has filed a perjury complaint against Ramil Madriaga before the Taguig City Prosecutor’s Office, accusing him of lying under oath when he alleged she received funds from drug dealers and Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations (POGOs).
Madriaga earlier submitted an affidavit to the Office of the Ombudsman claiming he delivered large sums of cash to individuals upon Duterte’s instructions.
These allegations were later incorporated into one of the impeachment complaints against the Vice President, which the House Committee on Justice deemed sufficient in substance.
Duterte, accompanied by her lawyer Paolo Panelo and supporting witnesses, personally submitted the complaint.
“Dahil dito, ngayong araw ay naghain ako ng kasong perjury laban kay Ramil Madriaga upang tuluyang mapanagot siya sa kanyang mga kasinungalingan,” Duterte said.
“Hindi maaaring hayaang gamitin ang mga imbentong kwento upang linlangin ang publiko,” she added.
The Vice President denied any personal ties to Madriaga, stressing that his claims were part of an effort to undermine her political plans, including a possible presidential bid in 2028.
